My name is Jamie. I am the Lead Therapist and Partner in Webster Therapeutic Services. I am originally from the Midlands and moved to Devon with my wife and 3 children in 2017.

My interest in therapy began at an early age, due mainly to my mothers profession as a counsellor and psychotherapist.  I spent much of my early adulthood reading books on philosophy, psychology, spirituality and mindfulness. During my early 20s I was keen to travel and worked my way around the world. When I came back to the UK I returned to education to study Psychology at Northampton University. 

While studying for my degree I worked in a psychiatric intensive care unit, where the academic world and the real world of human distress were initially embedded in my therapeutic understanding.  ​Following the completion of my degree in 2006 I spent a couple of years working as an Assistant Forensic Psychologist for the prison service before returning to the NHS to train as a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist (completed 2010). 

​In 2012 I finished a Masters Degree in CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) then trained in EMDR therapy (Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing) completing this training in 2016. Both of these therapies are NICE guideline recommended therapies (National Institute of Clinical Excellence).  ​I have also completed workshops in Advanced Trauma Focused Therapy, Compassionate Focused Therapy (CFT) and Supervisory Courses.

​During the past 10 years I have worked for the NHS as a Therapist and Supervisor in a wide range of environments including IAPT Services, IAPT Plus Services (including contracts with military veterans), Secondary Care Mental Health Services, Physical Health Services and in Private Practice.

I have always had a natural affiliation with people.  The ability to listen, accept, and make people feel comfortable, creating what is referred to as a safe environment.  My extensive experience both professionally and personally has allowed me to develop a modern – first, second or third wave evidence based (CBT) and more holistic approach in helping individuals or businesses to remove or reduce the psychological blocks that may be preventing personal or professional growth.
